
Reach over 12 million Japanese consumers with Mobage Town. There’s no reason to restrict your product offerings to English speaking audiences only. Just about every country in the world has a dominant social network for you to tap into.

Reach over 15 million mobile social networkers in Japan through Mixi.jp, the worlds first Web 2.0 company. You might also consider Mobage Town, a mobile only social network in Japan with about 12 million members. They have also just launched an english version: Mobamingle.com. It’s success is yet to be determined.
You can now continue Gmail chats by SMS with people that have a US cell phone number. Replies get sent to your gmail chat window. This is possible by using tagged numbers which means that your conversation does not get mixed up with someone elses. Being a US only service at launch, i’m guessing they are using the Free Email > SMS functionality that North American carriers provide:
The same functionality is available in some other countries also. Alternatively (though I doubt it) Google may be using an SMS gateway like Clickatell or Bulletin Wireless to facilitate the process. Even more unlikely, is that they have struck deals directly with the US carriers.
